Private Non-Medical Letters and Forms

We understand that patients may occasionally need letters or forms for non-medical purposes—such as for housing applications, schools, fitness centres, visa requests, or other personal matters.

Please be aware that these types of requests fall outside the scope of NHS-funded services and are considered private work. GPs are not contractually obliged to complete non-medical forms or letters, and such work is done at the discretion of the clinician.

Due to the demands on our clinical time and in line with guidance from the British Medical Association (BMA) and the General Medical Council (GMC), we may decline requests where:

  • The request is not clinically appropriate
  • There is insufficient information to support the form
  • The request places undue pressure on our team
  • Previous interactions make it inappropriate to provide further non-medical documentation

We aim to complete accepted private requests within two weeks, subject to clinician availability. All private forms and letters may be subject to a fee.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
